‘One dollar on 100 stars’: Facebook’s Stars program now available for Pakistani users
META has launched the Facebook Monetization ‘STARS’ program in Pakistan which was announced yesterday by Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during his visit to META’s Asia Pacific Headquarters in Singapore.
So this feature is a bit old but Pakistani users have been declared eligible for it recently.
Bilawal said during his video released on social media that ‘people who are using Facebook and Instagram, the more stars they get, the more money they will be able to earn.’
This development was appreciated by some content creators, but some say that features like in-stream ads should be given to users in Pakistan which would be more beneficial.
As Rasheed Ahmad Mirani says Pakistani users should have access to in-stream ads/midroll ads monetization.
“All requirements are met on my Facebook page but unfortunately we are unable to apply for monetization.”
What is the Facebook Stars program?
Facebook Stars is a feature that allows an average user or content creator to monetize their video, photo or written content (ie earn money from videos, photos or other content).
Users who view these posts (i.e. your fans) can buy and send stars to you. These stars can be sent to your live or on-demand videos. Facebook will give you USD 0.01 for each Star.
Stars on public posts are self-activating while a content creator must agree to partner monetization and content monetization policies and follow the rules to monetize the stars received.
Facebook has divided this program into gaming and non-gaming category. To earn money through the Facebook Stars program, you must have at least 1,000 followers for 60 consecutive days, agree to and follow all rules, and be 18 years of age or older. .
Apart from this, branded content and content can also be monetized through in-stream ads.
How to earn money through Facebook Stars?
You can associate the stars with the concept of goodness. It’s a way that your fans appreciate you and in return you can provide them with the content they want.
This includes everything from live broadcasts to reels and on-demand videos, meaning now as a content creator you have the opportunity to build a deeper relationship with your fans.
Let’s say you’re watching a stream, Facebook Live or on-demand video. If you like this content, you can appreciate this user by giving him stars.
If someone spends a dollar and sends someone 100 stars, the content creator earns a dollar. According to the current currency exchange rate, 99 stars means around 223 Pakistani rupees.
For example, your fans can send you stars to thank you if you give advice to people about health. This way, a doctor will know that you are a big fan of them and they will answer your questions or queries immediately. This allows a content creator to try to brand themselves.
