President Biden’s Sleep Apnea: Official Confirmation from the White House

President Joe Biden Uses CPAP Machine to Treat Sleep Apnea, White House Confirms

President Joe Biden, the oldest president in US history at 80 years old, is utilizing a CPAP machine to address sleep apnea, a common sleep disorder characterized by interrupted breathing during sleep, according to an announcement from the White House.

The disclosure came after reporters noticed marks on President Biden’s face, which resulted from the mask he wears during nighttime breathing assistance. Sleep apnea affects approximately 30 million Americans, as estimated by medical professionals.

A CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) device is employed to gently deliver air into a mask covering the nose and mouth, helping to keep the airways open while asleep.

White House spokesman Andrew Bates stated, “Since 2008, the President has disclosed his history with sleep apnea in thorough medical reports. He used a CPAP machine last night, which is common for people with that history.”

Subsequently, White House officials confirmed that President Biden has been using the CPAP machine for the past several weeks.

Sleep apnea is a highly prevalent sleep disorder worldwide, affecting up to one billion individuals. Studies indicate that its incidence increases with age, although it can also occur in young adults.

Common symptoms include temporary breathing cessation during sleep, gasping for air, loud snoring, and persistent fatigue even after a full night’s rest.

The condition can result in poor memory, reduced concentration, and a higher risk of accidents due to chronic exhaustion.

Experts advise individuals to consult their doctors if they experience symptoms such as loud snoring, nocturnal breathing pauses, excessive daytime sleepiness, fatigue, or sudden awakenings during the night.
