Another Russian fighter plane crashed in Irkutsk, Siberia
A Russian military plane has crashed in a residential area in southern Siberia, local officials said.
The governor of the region, Igor Kobzev, posted on Telegram that the Sukhoi Su-30 fighter jet landed on a two-story house in the city of Irkutsk.
The governor said he was on the scene and the two pilots in the plane were killed, but no residents were injured.
According to the Russian Emergencies Ministry, the jet was on a test flight when it crashed.
Footage on social media showed the plane diving almost vertically before collapsing in a fireball, sending black smoke into the sky.
Another video shows firefighters putting out the fire.
Russia’s State Investigative Committee has said it has opened a criminal investigation into violations of air safety laws.
This was the second incident of its kind in six days.
It should be noted that last Monday, a Sukhoi Su-34 military jet crashed into an apartment block in the southern city of Yesk, near Ukraine, killing at least 15 people.
