“Be in the Stands: ICC World Cup 2023 Ticket Sale Announcements”
With the ICC World Cup 2023 approaching, cricket fans are eagerly awaiting the start of ticket sales. According to The Indian Express, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to begin selling tickets for the tournament by August 10.
The sale of tickets will commence once individual staging associations finalize their pricing, as announced by BCCI secretary Jay Shah after a meeting with state associations in New Delhi. The state bodies have been instructed to share their finalized ticket prices with the Indian board by July 31.
During the tournament, fans will be required to use printed tickets to enter the stadium. To make it convenient for fans, arrangements will be made for the physical tickets to be collected at designated locations one week before the match. Additionally, the BCCI plans to implement an e-ticket system for bilateral games before the World Cup.
The BCCI has also requested state associations to reserve a certain number of tickets for the ICC and BCCI, including 300 free hospitality tickets per game. Apart from hospitality tickets, state associations will provide 1295 tickets for league games and 1355 tickets for India and semi-final games to the ICC.
The state associations will also provide 500 general tickets free of cost to the BCCI. Furthermore, additional hospitality tickets will be offered if the ICC and BCCI wish to purchase them.
Each state association can buy 40 tickets per game beyond the allocated quotas, and the ICC tour partner will purchase 10% of the remaining tickets.
During the meeting, the BCCI emphasized that affordable quality food should be available at the venue. Talks are also underway with a renowned beverage company to provide free drinking water.
The ICC World Cup 2023 will feature 10 teams competing at 10 venues from October 5 to November 19. The tournament opener and final will take place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The competition will follow a round-robin format, with all teams playing against each other in 45 league matches. The top four teams will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled to be held in Mumbai on November 15 and Kolkata on November 16, with reserve days for the semi-finals and final.
