Cricketing Dilemma Pakistan’s Participation in ICC World Cup 2023 Hangs in the Balance
Pakistan’s participation in the upcoming ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 remains uncertain as the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has stated that it requires government approval to send the team to India, the host country for the tournament.
The International Cricket Council (ICC) had recently announced the schedule for the highly anticipated event, including the Pakistan-India clash set to take place on October 15 in Ahmedabad.
In an official statement, a spokesperson for the PCB mentioned, “The PCB requires clearance from the Government of Pakistan for any tour to India, including the match venues.”
The board is currently in communication with the government to seek guidance, and it has assured the ICC that as soon as it receives an update from the government, the event authority will be informed accordingly.
The PCB spokesperson further emphasized that this position aligns with what was conveyed to the ICC a few weeks ago when the draft schedule was shared for feedback.
As cricket fans eagerly await a resolution, the final decision regarding Pakistan’s participation in the ICC Men’s World Cup 2023 hinges on the government’s approval and subsequent communication between the PCB and the ICC.
