Former X Factor winner James Arthur recently opened up about his decision to wear a thick woollen hat in the summer heat, attributing it to the cruel mocking of his shaggy hairstyle by internet trolls.
During his appearance on Thursday’s This Morning show, the 35-year-old TV star explained that he chose to don a large beanie to divert attention away from his hair and allow people to focus on his words instead.
He stated, “I’ve opted to conceal my hair under the cap so that people can listen to what I’m saying rather than comment on my hair.”
While speaking with the show’s hosts, Craig Doyle and Josie Gibson, Arthur shared his past struggle with depression and emphasized that he is currently in a positive state of mind.
The conversation also delved into the pressures of fame. Arthur acknowledged that fame provided him with an incredible career but acknowledged its traumatic aspects, likening it to a pressure cooker, as reported by Daily Mail.
When asked for advice for individuals who participate in talent competition TV shows, Arthur mentioned that there is no definitive guide for navigating fame. He further expressed that many, like him, come from humble beginnings and may not be equipped to handle the pressures of newfound celebrity.
