Coaching Shake-Up: Mark Coles Resigns from Women’s Team Due to ‘Personal Reasons

Mark Coles, the head coach of Pakistan’s women’s national cricket team, has tendered his resignation due to personal reasons, as confirmed by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Thursday.

Coles will not be leading the women’s team during the upcoming white-ball series against South Africa, slated to commence on September 1 in Karachi, according to a press release issued by the PCB.

Having previously served as the head coach of the women’s team from 2017 to 2019, Coles was re-appointed to the position in April of this year.

The PCB expressed its appreciation to Mark Coles for his brief tenure with the women’s side and conveyed its well-wishes for his future endeavors.

The board also revealed that the appointment of Coles’s successor will be disclosed in the “due course” of time.

Following the South Africa series, the Pakistan women’s team is scheduled to participate in the Asian Games in China. The team aims to secure a hat-trick of gold medals in the Asian Games after claiming top honors in the last two editions held in Guangzhou, China in 2010 and Incheon, South Korea in 2014.

As per the ICC T20I rankings and tournament regulations, the Pakistan women’s team will join the event from the quarter-finals, scheduled to take place from September 22 to 24. The semi-finals are set for September 25, with the final and bronze medal match slated for September 26.
