Taiwan angry over Elon Musk’s support for making Taiwan a special territory of China

Tesla and SpaceX chief executive officer Elon Musk’s support for making Taiwan a special administrative region of China has been welcomed by China, but condemned by Taiwan.

The world’s richest man told the Financial Times in an interview that he thought the two governments could reach a ‘reasonably acceptable’ settlement.

China’s ambassador to the US praised Elon Musk, but his Taiwanese counterpart said independence is ‘not for sale.’

It should be noted that Taiwan claims independence, but China claims that it is its territory.

There were questions about the end of the war and Ukraine’s ceding of territory to Russia, for which he had been criticized.

Elon Musk’s recent comments come as his electric vehicle Tesla set a new monthly sales record in China.

In an interview with the British newspaper Financial Times published on Friday, he discussed, among other things, the tensions between China and Taiwan.

Elon Musk said: ‘My proposal to make Taiwan a reasonably acceptable Special Administrative Region may not please everyone. And it’s possible, I think, that an arrangement could actually be reached that is more lenient than Hong Kong’s.’
