Building a Cricketing Legacy: USA’s Aspirations for MLC Hosting and T20 WC

USA Cricket Asserts T20 World Cup 2024 Venue Will Remain Amidst Infrastructure Concerns

The USA Cricket (USAC) has assured that the T20 World Cup 2024 will not be relocated due to concerns over the country’s cricketing infrastructure. The successful hosting of the Major League Cricket (MLC) is seen as crucial in dispelling any doubts regarding the tournament venue.

Recent reports suggested that the International Cricket Council (ICC) might consider shifting the premier event, originally planned to be jointly hosted by the USA and the West Indies, to England next year.

However, a USAC official clarified that no discussions have taken place with the ICC regarding a change in venue.

“We have not had any discussions with the ICC about this matter. We are fully committed to preparing the necessary infrastructure for the T20 World Cup, which is just a year away,” stated a USA Cricket administrator.

Concerns about the availability of suitable venues are understandable, as cricketing events are not regularly hosted in the US. Nevertheless, the upcoming Major League Cricket and the successful staging of the T20 tournament are expected to address these concerns.

The inaugural Major League Cricket T20 is scheduled to commence on July 13 and conclude on July 30. The tournament will feature six teams competing at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Texas. Prominent cricket stars like Jason Roy, Adam Zampa, Matthew Wade, Marcus Stoinis, and Moises Henriques have already signed up to participate in the MLC T20.

“We are fully prepared to host the MLC T20, and the participation of renowned cricketers from around the world will enhance our reputation as a top-notch event host. We have also gained valuable experience from hosting high-profile cricketing events in Lauderhill, Florida, involving India and West Indies,” added the administrator.

The ICC also downplayed the possibility of relocating the T20 World Cup from the West Indies and the USA, stating that no discussions have taken place within the ICC forums regarding such a move.

“The T20 World Cup 2024 will proceed as planned, and an announcement regarding the venues will be made soon,” confirmed an ICC Board member.
