“Breaking Records: Enaam Ahmed Achieves Third Successive Top 8 Finish

LONDON/OHIO: Enaam Ahmed, the British-Pakistani Formula F3 champion, showcased his talent once again as he secured another impressive top 10 finish in the IndyNXT by Firestone race this past weekend, battling against a field of top drivers.

The challenging seventh round of the 2023 season took place at the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, featuring a treacherously wet track. Despite the difficult conditions, Ahmed fearlessly maneuvered his way through the race.

The track, known for its roller coaster-like elevations, attracted a multitude of American fans who camped in their tents and trailers, adding to the electrifying atmosphere as they cheered on the competitors.

Starting the Mid-Ohio Grand Prix in 11th position, Ahmed wasted no time in making his way towards the front of the pack. Within the first lap, the Pakistani racer had already entered the top 10 and set his sights on further progress.

With heavy rain prior to the race, the track remained damp as Ahmed fearlessly battled for position, reaching speeds of up to 180 miles per hour. The challenge intensified as a light mist fell during the race, making the track surface even more treacherous.

Undeterred by the conditions, the 23-year-old racer persistently pursued opportunities to gain positions, even skillfully avoiding an incident with Rasmus Lindh that could have ended his race prematurely.

Ahmed demonstrated his racing prowess by eventually overtaking Lindh a few laps later, utilizing his superior speed during a restart.

As the race neared its conclusion, deteriorating track conditions caused multiple drivers, including highly skilled racers, to slide off into the grass. In contrast, Ahmed maintained his composure and skillfully navigated the challenging surface, capitalizing on the positions made available by the crashes.

Having honed his skills as a British Formula F3 champion in cool and rainy conditions, Ahmed’s experience proved invaluable throughout the race.

“I capitalized on the first laps of the restarts,” Ahmed explained when describing his strategy. “Every time there was a restart, I was overtaking. So, that was good. It was very, very slick out there.”

Acknowledging the learning curve his team faces in their first year competing in IndyNXT, Ahmed expressed confidence in their progress, stating, “It’s only a matter of time before we get it right, and once we’re at the front, I know we can win.”

This remarkable achievement marks the third time Ahmed has secured a top eight finish, an impressive feat considering he is still a rookie in the series. With half of the 2023 season remaining, the talented racer has ample opportunity to showcase his capabilities.
