Pakistan’s SAFF Championship Journey Takes Another Hit with a Crushing 4-0 Defeat by Kuwait
Pakistan faced a devastating defeat as Kuwait outplayed them with a resounding 4-0 victory in the ongoing SAFF Championship held at the Sri Kanteerava Stadium in Bengaluru, India. This loss marks Pakistan’s second consecutive defeat in the tournament, putting their chances of advancing in jeopardy. In their previous match, Pakistan suffered a 4-0 defeat against India.
Kuwait took an early lead in the 10th minute with a goal from Hasan Al Enezi, followed by Mubarak Al Faneni extending their advantage just seven minutes later. Towards the end of the first half, Mubarak struck again, leaving Pakistan struggling to regain control. In the second half, Eid Al Rashedi further widened Kuwait’s lead, sealing the match with a 4-0 scoreline in the 69th minute.
Prior to their triumph over Pakistan, Kuwait had also secured a 3-1 victory against Nepal in their opening match. Meanwhile, the upcoming match will see India facing Nepal at the same venue later today.
It’s worth noting that the 14th edition of the SAFF Championship features India, Lebanon, Kuwait, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Pakistan competing for the title. Lebanon and Kuwait, as guest teams from the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF), add further excitement to the tournament.
The top two teams from each group will progress to the semi-finals scheduled for July 1, with the final match set to take place on July 4.
