The Mbappe Saga: PSG Accepts Al-Hilal’s Historic Transfer Offer
Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) has accepted a $333 million (£259 million) bid from Al Hilal, a Saudi Arabian club, for French striker Kylian Mbappe. The move comes after Mbappe was granted permission to speak to the Saudi club, and with only one year left on his contract with PSG, it was expected that he would leave the club, having refused to sign a contract extension.
The 24-year-old had been excluded from the PSG squad for their pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea, and speculations had arisen that he had accepted an offer from Spain’s Real Madrid, leading PSG to put him up for sale to avoid losing him for free next year.
If the deal with Al Hilal is completed, it will become the most expensive transfer in football history, surpassing Neymar’s £198 million move from Barcelona to PSG. Mbappe would reportedly earn a staggering £600 million each year with the Saudi club.
Mbappe, who joined PSG from Monaco in 2017 for €180 million, has since established himself as one of the world’s best players. He played a significant role in helping France win the FIFA World Cup in 2018 and has won four national titles with PSG.
