Unraveling Divorce Drama: Kevin Costner Opens Up About Christine’s Prenup Confusion

Kevin Costner Accuses Estranged Wife of Delaying Divorce Proceedings

Actor Kevin Costner has alleged that his estranged wife, Christine Baumgartner, is intentionally prolonging their divorce proceedings, according to court documents recently obtained by Us Weekly.

In a filing dated Thursday, August 10, the 68-year-old actor stated, “Christine has consistently put up obstacles to unjustifiably avoid responding to this discovery,” implying that her actions are causing unnecessary delays.

The star of “The Highwaymen” has submitted a motion to impose financial penalties on Baumgartner, aged 49, for failing to address his requests for discovery.

Costner clarified that back in May, he served her with these requests, seeking to understand her stance on the validity of their prenuptial agreement, which was established during their marriage in 2004.

The actor stressed the importance of acquiring essential discovery information that pertains to the “facts, documents, and witnesses supporting her claims” in their ongoing divorce dispute.

Amid the legal proceedings, Costner claimed that Baumgartner has consistently avoided disclosing her assertions related to the divorce.

“Christine asserts she cannot confirm whether she comprehended the Premarital Agreement due to her alleged confusion about the word ‘understood.’ This is a form of manipulation that hampers progress,” the new documents stated.

“‘Understood’ is not an intricate or obscure term. It does not warrant objection on the grounds of ambiguity, unless it’s so unclear that the responding party genuinely cannot provide an intelligent response.”
