Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Commands History Unveiling His Latest Project
Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, renowned for his role in ‘Game of Thrones,’ is set to wield his sword once again in the upcoming period drama ‘King and Conqueror.’
The Danish actor, known for portraying Jaime Lannister, is collaborating with CBS Studios and BBC on this new venture. In this limited series, Coster-Waldau will take on the role of the 11th-century Duke of Normandy, William, while also serving as an executive producer.
Joining the 53-year-old star in the cast is James Norton, known for his role in McMafia. The series will be directed by Baltasar Kormákur, with the script crafted by Robert Johnson.
The official synopsis describes the show as “the story of a clash that defined the future of a country — and a continent — for a thousand years.” It explores the intertwined fates of two family dynasties, Harold of Wessex and William of Normandy, who, despite having no initial designs on the British throne, find themselves entangled in a war for its possession.
Scheduled to air on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in the UK, the release details for the US are yet to be disclosed, as reported by TVLine.
