If you sleep less than five hours, then your health may be at risk

If you are over 50 and you are not sleeping for at least five hours, then it can lead to many serious diseases. A study has revealed that getting at least five hours of sleep reduces the risk of health problems in people over 50.

If health is not good then sleep can be disturbed. And not getting enough sleep can be a sign of danger. There is ample evidence that sleep helps to remember things, keep the mind fresh, and relax it. But till now it is not clear how many hours of sleep is the ‘golden number’.

The PLOS Medicine Study tracked the health and sleep of British civil servants. In this study, 8,000 people were asked how many hours you sleep on average on a weeknight. Some people also used sleep watch for this.

At the same time, their chronic (long-term) diseases were investigated. He was screened for various diseases like diabetes, cancer, heart disease and details of nearly two decades were taken from him.

It was found that people who sleep five hours or less around the age of 50 have a 30% higher risk of many diseases than those who sleep seven hours.

It has also been revealed during the study that due to less sleep at the age of 50, the risk of death increases. This risk increases mainly due to chronic diseases.

Researchers from University College London and Paris City University say that experts generally recommend seven or eight hours of sleep.

Scientists have not been able to tell anything exactly about this, but one thing is clear that good sleep helps in remembering things, happy mood, concentration and metabolism.

Professor Dirk-John Dijkow, director of the Surrey Sleep Centre, told BBC News, “According to this study, not getting enough hours of sleep is not good for our health. Generally it is not good from the health point of view. But it may be okay for some people.

“The big question here is why some people sleep less. What is the reason behind this and can anything be done to fix it? Sleep is such a lifestyle thing that can be changed to an extent.

If we do not get good sleep for a long time, then it can have a very bad effect on our health. Doctors advise not to take sleeping pills as it not only has a negative effect on health but also increases dependence on it for sleep. Sleep problems can be resolved and necessary help can also be taken for this.
