Indians, Pakistanis unite over new recipe of Qorme as ‘crime’

This form of crime is ‘crime’. If it is korma, why does it have greens and rice?

When British food channel ‘Tasty UK’ shared a video on social media combining chicken korma with famous South Asian recipes like biryani, chicken tikka. Social media users of India and Pakistan are very angry on this video.

Both India and Pakistan have certain recipes that are made special by the ingredients they add.

Chicken Korma is very popular in both countries and is often served at weddings, family events and restaurants.

However, it is also liked in other countries and many places are trying to introduce it in their own way.

What was in Tasty UK’s ‘Criminal’ Chicken Korma?

On December 3, Tasty UK shared a video of a recipe from its Twitter account with the caption ‘One Pot Chicken Korma’.

In the beginning of the video of this recipe, it was shown that after adding a few drops of oil to the pan, chopped onions, garlic and cloves were added to it.

Then add some pieces of chicken breast and finely chopped tomatoes. After this, two tablespoons of korma paste and two hundred grams of basmati rice were added.

After this, one cube of chicken stock, two glasses of water and 75 grams of raisins were added to it and it was covered with aluminum foil until the water dried up, then some more water was added.

It was cooked for another 10 minutes and 50 grams of greens and some curd were added to it. At the end green coriander was added to it and served in a small bowl.

“This Quora is ‘Crime'”

Lakhs of people watched this video of chicken Korma, but most people disliked it and questioned it.

Many people objected that there was no need to add greens and rice in it and it is not a traditional Korma. It looks almost dry while it usually contains broth and is eaten with rice or roti.

Chicken Korma is usually eaten with rice in South Asia. People expressed surprise on this point that how Tasty UK put uncooked rice in the cooked Korma.

A user, Abhijeet Mukherjee, said, “This is a joke of Quora. You have united India and Pakistan on this.”

Ariha Fatima wrote, “As a well-known Quora maker I would call this blasphemy. This video should be reported on a large scale.”

Rana writes, “It looks more like a Dewani Handi recipe than Korme. You ruled us for hundreds of years and you are calling it Chicken Korma? Please don’t spread misinformation.”

At the same time, a user Daniel Sen writes about this recipe that it is a foreign conspiracy. Ariha writes that this is an insult to Qorme and our neighbors will not allow it to spread.

One user, Rakin Khan, even wrote, “If I show this meme to my mother, she will have a heart attack.”

A user Asif Raja gave his reaction to this video, “This is a conspiracy with the real quality of chicken quorme and its taste.”

There are many varieties of chicken korma

A dish named Korma is also found in Turkey, Iran and Azerbaijan, in which fried meat and vegetables are added.

It is said that the Mughal-era Khansame was inspired by Persian cuisine and cooked meat with onions, tomatoes and curd to make a spicy dish that is still popular across the border.

Korma is traditionally lightly cooked in ghee instead of oil so that the moisture in the curry remains intact.

Now if you add dry fruits to it or cook it in coconut oil, which is called Golai Korma in Malaysia, it is up to you.

But if you have changed its traditional style, be prepared for criticism!
