Legal Demands American Sikh Community Seeks Modi Prosecution Amid FBI Director’s Trip to India
LONDON/SAN FRANCISCO: Following a prominent visit to India by a senior Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) official, pro-Khalistan activists organized a significant march on the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, protesting with chants of “FBI, FBI – You Are Right – Modi Is Behind Murder Plots.”
Over 1,000 vehicles displaying Khalistan flags and “Wanted” banners featuring images of “Modi-Jaishankar-Sandhu” congested Interstate I-80 to Highway 101 leading to the bridge, marking one of the largest demonstrations of its kind.
The Sikhs gathered to express support for American and Canadian investigations into an alleged assassination plan against pro-Khalistan Sikhs. The rally was orchestrated by Sikhs For Justice (SFJ), which is actively involved in the Khalistan Referendum voting campaign.
SFJ General Counsel Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, referencing the upcoming American phase of the Khalistan Referendum starting on January 28, 2024, stated, “Undaunted by the looming assassination attempts, Sikh sovereignists will continue with the campaign for liberating Punjab from Indian occupation through Referendum.
“Modi cannot hide behind sovereign immunity forever. We will get him arrested, prosecuted, and convicted under international law for his crimes against pro-Khalistan Sikhs, Kashmiri Muslims, and Christians in Manipur.”
Pannun, the founder of SFJ and spokesperson for the Khalistan Referendum, asserted that the charges related to the assassination plot against Nikhil Gupta and other Indian state officials are effectively charges against Narendra Modi.
“Modi is directly involved in planning my assassination,” stated the pro-Khalistan leader after the US authorities indicted Indian agents, directly accusing and charging them with conspiring to kill Pannun due to his activism for Khalistan’s creation.
Pannun emphasized: “An Indian Hindu, Nikhil Gupta, has been indicted for an assassination attempt, but in fact, this is an indictment against Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a known human rights violator who has a track record of using violence to suppress criticism and dissenting political opinion.”
On November 29, the US announced murder-for-hire charges against Indian national Gupta in connection with a foiled plot to assassinate Pannun. US Attorney Damian Williams and Assistant Attorney General Matthew C. Olsen emphasized their commitment to prosecuting anyone attempting harm on US soil, with DEA Administrator Anne Milgram praising the efforts of law enforcement agencies in thwarting the plot.
