Kamakazi Drones: How Russia and Ukraine Are Using This Weapon Against Each Other

Ukraine has accused Russia of using Kamakazi drones, or suicide drones, on civilian targets in Kiev.

These suicide drones are believed to include Iran-made ‘Martyr-136’ drones that Russia has been using since September.

What is Russia’s Kamakazi drone?

‘Martyr-136’ is called ‘Geranium-2’ in Russia. It’s actually a flying bomb.

Its front part is equipped with explosives and it is designed in such a way that it keeps hovering over its target until it gets the command to attack.

‘Shaheed-136’ has 2.5 meters long wings and is difficult to detect by radar

“They fly low,” says military expert Justin Crump.

Iran’s ‘Martyr-136’ is comparatively cheap and its cost is about 20 thousand dollars.

The picture is not yet clear about how many ‘Geranium-2’ drones Russia has.

But America says that Iran is going to supply hundreds of these drones to Russia. Iran has rejected these allegations of America.

It is not clear whether Ukraine has used suicide drones against Russia, but experts believe they were used in recent attacks on Russian ships stationed at the Russian military base, Sevastopol airbase and Sevastopol port in Saky, western Crimea. was used.

“If you look at the explosions in these attacks, their scale seems very small,” says Dr Marina Miron, researcher in defense studies at King’s College London.

“I suspect these were Ukrainian-made fidayeen drones that were loaded with explosives.”
