A man opened fire on Monday in California, killing seven people.
The incident comes just two days after 11 people were killed in a shooting at a local dance hall.
The latest attacks were carried out at two different locations in the beach town of Half Moon Bay.
The assailant has been identified as 67-year-old Jhao چُنلی, a local resident.
It should be clear that on the arrival of the new lunar year, there is a space of sorrow after the attack in the Asian-majority Monterey Park.
Two hours after the attack, the man handed himself over to the police.
The first four dead were found in a field of cucumbers, while the other three were found near a truck base.
Local sheriff Kristina Korps told a press conference that the eighth person was in critical condition and was being treated in hospital.
The sheriff also said that among the witnesses were children who had recently been pulled out of school and were living in rural areas. The children said that ‘It is impossible for children to see this.’
Half Moon Bay council member Debbie Ruddock told the BBC that the dead were Chinese farmers.
Investigators have not yet revealed a motive for the attack, although police say they are ‘cooperating’.
It should be noted that at least ten people were killed as a result of last day’s shooting in Monterey Park.
Thousands of Americans gathered in the park for the annual festival to celebrate the Lunar New Year, many of whom belonged to the Asian community. Monterey Park has a population of about 60,000 people and is home to an Asian community.
According to the police, no other suspect was involved in the incident. According to officials, they are still investigating the reasons behind the attack.
