Score Free Tickets: FIFA’s Exciting Offer for Women’s World Cup in New Zealand

FIFA Offers 20,000 Free Tickets to Boost Attendance at Women’s World Cup in New Zealand

In an effort to address concerns about sluggish ticket sales in New Zealand, FIFA has announced that it will provide 20,000 complimentary tickets for matches of the Women’s World Cup held in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, and Dunedin.

The decision comes as Australia, the co-hosts of the tournament, have already secured the majority of the 1 million tickets sold so far. With their national team, the ‘Matildas,’ considered strong contenders for the title, Australia’s ticket sales have been robust. However, New Zealand has faced slower sales due to soccer’s lower profile in the country and the ‘Football Ferns’ yet to secure a win in their previous five World Cup appearances.

Recognizing the challenges of attracting fans to soccer stadiums in New Zealand, FIFA’s chief women’s football officer, Sarai Bareman, expressed the need to promote attendance. Xero, the official partner of this year’s event, is also contributing to the cause by offering an additional 5,000 complimentary tickets for matches in the four host cities of New Zealand.

Former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has joined in the efforts to generate interest in the tournament. In an Instagram post, she expressed her enthusiasm for hosting such a significant event and encouraged both casual fans and experts to take advantage of the available tickets and be part of the excitement.

The Women’s World Cup campaign for New Zealand’s national team, the Football Ferns, will begin with a match against former champions Norway in Auckland on July 20. The provision of free tickets aims to attract a larger audience and create a vibrant atmosphere in the stadiums throughout the tournament, showcasing the talent and passion of women’s football on a global stage.
