Ahsan Ramzan Makes History as the First Pakistani to Win the Asian U21 Snooker Championship
Ahsan Ramzan, a rising star in Pakistani snooker, achieved a remarkable milestone by capturing the Asian U21 Snooker Championship in Iran.
Ramzan demonstrated his exceptional skills by defeating Iran’s Milad Pourali Darehchi with a commanding score of 5-2, securing the prestigious Asian U21 Snooker title and etching his name in history as the first-ever Pakistani to achieve this feat.
From the onset, the young Pakistani cueist showcased his dominance, swiftly taking a 4-0 lead by triumphing in the first four frames convincingly.
Although his Iranian opponent mounted a comeback in the 5th and 6th frames, Ramzan showcased his resilience and outperformed his rival in the decisive 7th frame, sealing his victory.
With impressive frame scores of 48-46, 70-5, 61-6, 62-29, 30-71, 55-67, and 101-27, Ramzan left no doubt about his mastery of the game.
Earlier in the tournament, Ramzan exhibited his remarkable talent by defeating another Iranian cueist, Tirdad Azadipout, in the semi-finals with a convincing 4-2 victory in the Best of Seven format, securing his place in the highly anticipated final.
In the quarter-finals, Ramzan faced a fierce challenge from India’s Digvijay Kadyan but emerged triumphant with a thrilling 4-3 victory. Despite trailing with a three-two deficit, the determined 17-year-old displayed remarkable resilience, winning the match with scores of 19-76, 36-76, 67-35, 63-31, 72-55, 27-65, and 9-70.
During the group stage matches, Ramzan showcased his exceptional talent by competing against Iran’s Arshia Tehrani and Ali Lelegani, defeating both opponents with finesse and precision.
In his first group match, the talented teenager dominated Tehrani with a flawless performance, securing a 3-0 victory in the Best of Five format. Ramzan’s superiority was evident as he triumphed in the first frame with a score of 55-21, continued his remarkable form in the second frame with a convincing 93-15 win, and comfortably secured the third frame, maintaining his dominance throughout.
Prior to Ramzan’s historic achievement, three other Pakistani players, namely Farhan Mirza, Majid Ali, and Haris Tahir, had reached the final of the Asian U21 championship on four occasions, but fell short of claiming the coveted title.
Ramzan’s triumph in the Asian U21 Snooker Championship not only marks a significant milestone for Pakistani snooker but also serves as a testament to his exceptional talent, dedication, and determination to excel in the sport.
