Interim Appointment: Tauseef Ahmed Considered for Chief Selector Role
Following Inzamam-ul-Haq’s recent resignation amidst allegations of a conflict of interest related to his affiliation with a UK-based player agency, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering the appointment of former Test off-spinner Tauseef Ahmed as the national chief selector on a temporary basis.
Inzamam’s resignation, prompted by the PCB’s inquiry into his alleged links with the player agency, has led to discussions about temporarily filling the vacant chief selector position. Tauseef Ahmed, a member of the selection committee, is the prime candidate for this temporary role, particularly for Pakistan’s three-Test series in Australia scheduled for December-January.
A five-member investigation committee was established to probe Inzamam’s and national team vice-captain Mohammad Rizwan’s involvement with the aforementioned player agency. This committee is expected to present its findings to PCB Interim Management Committee chairman Zaka Ashraf by Monday, November 6.
