FC Barcelona Grapples with Massive Obstacle in Lionel Messi’s Transfer Situation

Lionel Messi’s hopes of rejoining Barcelona are facing uncertainty as the La Liga side has yet to make an official offer. The Argentine captain’s contract with his current club PSG is set to expire on June 30, and it has been revealed that he will be leaving.

Barcelona conducted an internal economic report, which indicated that Messi’s return to Spain would be highly lucrative. The report revealed an estimated value of 230 million Euros per year, with 150 million Euros expected to come from new sponsors and 80 million Euros from ticket sales.

Due to the ongoing renovation of the Camp Nou, Barcelona plans to utilize the Montjuic Stadium for the upcoming season. This move could lead to increased attendance if Messi returns. Last season, Barcelona experienced a significant drop in the number of fans at the Camp Nou after Messi’s departure. However, with the arrival of Lewandowski and the team’s improvement, the numbers have shown signs of recovery this season.

Barcelona submitted the economic report to La Liga and has been eagerly awaiting their approval to proceed with the Messi deal. However, as of now, the club has not received any communication from La Liga, raising doubts about Messi’s potential return. Messi left his boyhood club in August 2022 after failing to reach an agreement with La Liga regarding financial regulations.

Additionally, it has been revealed by EL Nacional that Messi desires the presence of his fellow countrymen Angel Di Maria and Leandro Paredes in Catalonia. Di Maria is expected to depart Juventus after this season as his contract nears expiration. Meanwhile, Paredes, who has been on loan at Juventus from PSG, has expressed his reluctance to return to France.
