Naila Kiani Becomes First Pakistani Woman to Conquer All 8,000-Metre Peaks

In a remarkable achievement, Naila Kiani has etched her name in history as the first Pakistani woman to conquer all 8,000-metre peaks in the country. Her latest feat involved a successful ascent of Broad Peak, the 12th highest peak in the world at 8,047 metres, on Thursday.

With this accomplishment, Naila has now conquered a total of 8,000-metre peaks worldwide out of a challenging 14.

ACP Secretary Karrar Haidri announced the triumphant news, stating, “Naila has successfully ascended Pakistan’s fifth and final 8,000-metre peak at 2:03 am today [Thursday]. She is also the first Pakistani woman to ascend Broad Peak, complete the climb of all five 8,000-metre peaks in Pakistan, and scale eight 8,000-metre peaks worldwide.”

Among the awe-inspiring mountains Naila has previously conquered are Mount Everest, K2, Lhotse, Annapurna, Gasherbrum 1 and 2, and Nanga Parbat.

Her extraordinary accomplishments have not gone unnoticed, as she was rightfully awarded the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the third-highest civilian award in Pakistan, in recognition of her successful summit of Mount Everest in May.

Dr. Arif Alvi, the President of Pakistan, also commended Naila for her remarkable achievements.

In a related noteworthy achievement, Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Sadpara recently scaled Broad Peak without the use of supplementary oxygen and Sherpas’ assistance on Wednesday.

Sajid has now successfully climbed all five eight-thousanders in Pakistan without any help of supplemental oxygen, following in the footsteps of his legendary mountaineer father, Ali Sadpara. His ambitious goal is to climb all 14 eight-thousanders without the aid of supplementary oxygen.

Having summited Nanga Parbat, K2, Gasherbrum-I, and Gasherbrum-II in Pakistan, as well as Manaslu in Nepal, without supplemental oxygen, Sajid has proven his prowess in high-altitude climbing.

His exceptional achievement includes climbing Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, without the support of supplemental oxygen and assistance from Sherpas in May 2023.
