Australian Company Takes Legal Action Against Elon Musk’s Twitter for Payment Issue
Australian Firm Files Lawsuit Against Elon Musk’s Twitter Over Unpaid Invoices
An Australian project management firm, Facilitate Corp, has lodged a case against Elon Musk’s Twitter in a US court, alleging that the social media giant owes them an outstanding amount of A$1 million ($665,000) for work done across four countries.
The lawsuit, filed in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California on June 29, claims breach of contract on Twitter’s part for failing to fulfill payment obligations.
Facilitate Corp, based in Sydney, asserts that between 2022 and early 2023, they completed various projects for Twitter, including sensor installations in London and Dublin offices, an office fit-out in Singapore, and an office clearance in Sydney. The company states that Twitter owes them approximately £203,000, S$546,600, and A$61,300 for these services.
Twitter, also known as X Corp, no longer maintains a media relations office. Facilitate Corp seeks compensatory damages, legal costs, and interest at the maximum legal rate, with the exact amount to be determined during the trial.
This legal action adds to a series of cases alleging non-payment by Twitter since Elon Musk’s acquisition of the platform for $44 billion last year. Previous lawsuits include a suit filed by a former PR firm in New York claiming unpaid bills and another by US-based advisory firm Innisfree M&A seeking around $1.9 million for unpaid services related to advising Twitter on its acquisition by Musk.
In January, Britain’s Crown Estate, responsible for managing the monarchy’s property portfolio, initiated court proceedings over alleged unpaid rent for Twitter’s London headquarters.
