Capture and Share WhatsApp Introduces Video Messages for All Users
Meta-owned WhatsApp has announced the wide rollout of a new video message feature for users. The messaging app submitted the update through the TestFlight beta program, bringing the version to 23.15.1.76.
The feature, called video messages, is now available to more beta testers and will be released to a wider audience in the coming days. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg also made the announcement.
With this new feature, users can share real-time videos lasting up to 60 seconds, making it as effortless as sending a voice note.
To send a video message, users need to press the microphone icon within a conversation, which will then transform into a camera button. Users can also swipe up to enable a hands-free experience while recording the video.
When these video messages are opened in a chat, they will be played in mute mode. However, users can tap on the video to hear the sound.
Importantly, just like texts, these video messages are also end-to-end encrypted and can only be played by the recipient.
The introduction of this feature allows users to be more expressive and straightforward in their communications. Additionally, these video messages cannot be edited, modified, or normally forwarded, ensuring that they are exclusively recorded for the intended recipient.
