If BNP does more, Khaleda Zia will be sent to jail again: Hasina

Dhaka (UNI) Bangladesh Prime Minister and Awami League (AL) President Sheikh Hasina on Thursday warned that Khaleda Zia would be sent back to jail if Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) committed excesses in the name of anti-government movement. Will go

Ms Hasina, presiding over a discussion on Prison Killing Day organized by the Awami League at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center (BICC) in the capital Dhaka, said if the BNP did more, Khaleda Zia would be sent to jail again.

He said that illegally formed political parties are now committing excesses in the name of movements.

We have said that we hold our (BNP’s) meeting and procession in a peaceful manner, we will not say anything.

The prime minister said Khaleda Zia has been sentenced to ten years in the Zia Orphanage Trust and seven years in the Zia Charitable Trust corruption cases that were filed by the caretaker government and is now living in her home as the government has imposed humanitarian grounds. But it is allowed.

The premier termed the BNP an illegal party because it was formed by the government of a military dictator Ziaur Rahman after the High Court declared the government illegal as it took power after violating the country’s constitution.
