Novak Djokovic Secures French Open Victory and Regains World Number One Ranking
Novak Djokovic, fresh off his remarkable 23rd Grand Slam victory, reclaimed the top spot in the ATP rankings, released on Monday, while Rafael Nadal fell out of the top 100.
Djokovic, at 36 years old, spent his 388th week as the world’s number one player, jumping two places in the rankings following his win at the French Open. In the semi-final, he defeated his Spanish rival, Carlos Alcaraz, who had previously held the number one spot.
Russian player Daniil Medvedev, who was eliminated in the first round of Roland Garros, dropped one place in the rankings. Meanwhile, Casper Ruud, the runner-up in the tournament, maintained his fourth position, 40 points ahead of Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Rafael Nadal, a 14-time French Open champion, experienced a significant drop in the rankings due to his prolonged absence caused by a hip injury. He plummeted 121 places to 136th in the rankings.
