Former US President Trump accused of rape, affidavit recorded in defamation case

Former US President Donald Trump has filed an affidavit on defamation after a woman columnist accused her of rape.

EJane Carroll has alleged that Donald Trump sexually assaulted her in the dressing room of a major New York department store in the mid-1990s.

Donald Trump has denied the allegation, saying that ‘Jane Carroll is lying’, prompting Jane Carroll to sue him for defamation.

Jane Carroll’s attorney did not release details of her client’s statement, but said the incident happened on Wednesday. The court hearing of this case will start from February 6.

A spokesperson for the law firm Kaplan Hacker & Funk said: ‘We are pleased to have been able to secure a statement from Donald Trump today on behalf of our client, E.Jane Carroll.’ The spokesperson also said that ‘we cannot comment further on this.’

Former US President Donald Trump’s lawyer, Alina Haba, said in a statement: ‘As we have already said, my client was happy to testify and clarify the facts today.’

“This case, like many others, is nothing more than a political ploy in a long list of vendettas against Donald Trump,” he said.

It is not clear whether President Trump said what he said in his sworn statement and whether he appeared in person or whether he made the statement from his home or office. According to the American news channel CNN, he made this statement from his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida.

In a 2019 New York magazine article, longtime consulting columnist Jane Carroll said she met Donald Trump in late 1995 or early 1996 at a Bergdorf Goodman department store.

She said she was helping Donald Trump buy a gift during which they both ended up in the store’s dressing room. She alleges that Trump raped her. She says she was 52 at the time and Trump was around 50, and Donald Trump was married to Marla Maples at the time.

Jane Carroll says, ‘At that time, he told two of his friends about the incident. One advised them to go to the police, but the other warned them to keep quiet, saying ‘Forget it! He has 200 lawyers. He will bury you alive.’

Former President Donald Trump quickly denied the allegation, accusing Jane Carroll of lying to sell her book.

After which Jane Carroll filed a defamation suit against Donald Trump while he was still in office, saying that her statement had damaged his reputation.

Donald Trump’s lawyers tried to delay the recording of his sworn statement, but Manhattan federal court Judge Lewis A. Kaplan last week denied the request.

Donald Trump responded to this legal case on social media and said that ‘this Miss Bergdorf Goodman case is a complete fraud.’

More than a dozen women have previously accused Trump of sexual misconduct, which he denies.

Last month, Jane Carroll’s lawyers said they planned to file a second lawsuit against Donald Trump under a new law that gives adult victims of sexual assault an opportunity to file civil lawsuits, whether Legal limitations or expiration date.

Her lawyer says she plans to file a new case on November 24.

This is the latest addition to a series of legal cases against Donald Trump. In one of his other cases, he faces fraud charges from New York prosecutors, who sued him in September.

And he faces a Justice Department investigation for allegedly removing classified government documents from the White House and storing them at his personal residence in Mar-a-Lago.
