Kainat Imtiaz and Salima Imtiaz: The mother-daughter duo representing Pakistan in the Asia Cup

It is good to keep dreaming and to strive for their realization. I also dreamed that I was representing Pakistan, but when I did not get the opportunity, got married and had children, I started looking for the meaning of this dream in my daughter, but I did not give up my struggle.

The result today is that both my daughter and I are representing Pakistan internationally. There is so much happiness that I cannot describe.

This is what Pakistani umpire Salima Imtiaz, who is performing the duties of umpiring in the Women’s Cricket Asia Cup held in Bangladesh, has to say.

Pakistani mother and daughter are participating in the Women’s Asia Cup held in Bangladesh. All-rounder Kainat Amitaz of the women’s cricket team was representing Pakistan while her mother Salima Imtiaz was selected for the umpiring duties.

“Actually, I am my parents’ dream,” says Kainat Imtiaz.

My parents wanted me to represent Pakistan in the world of sports. Especially my dad who worked hard on me.

“The universe was not gifted with dolls”

Salima Imtiaz says that she was very fond of sports even before marriage.

“In college, most of my time was spent on the ground. Married to a sports enthusiast, sports was a common passion of both of us. When the children were born, especially the universe, we started transferring our passion to it.

Salima Imtiaz says, “In childhood, we did not give him dolls and dolls, but football and cricket balls as toys.”

He said that in this way we tried to make his entertainment healthy. “We used to take him to the park etc where he got to see some activity, hang and climb, run.”

Kainat Imtiaz says she doesn’t remember ever playing with a doll.

As far as I can remember, my childhood was spent in the grounds and parks. I can’t say that it was encouraged from childhood, I think maybe it was forced and mostly it was forced by my dad. I think it was not even wrong because adults and parents have a bigger version than children and they understand better.

He said that Dadi used to take him to the ground and the park by force to exercise. When sports were being held in school etc., they used to make me participate in them. The rest of the children used to work twice as hard as they were doing. At that time, they used to say that we have to win and come back after winning.

Kainat Imtiaz understands that he is at this position only because of the hard work of that time.

Pudding is not cooked

Salima Imtiaz says that Kainat knows how to cook but hasn’t cooked for a long time now because she doesn’t get time.

He said that we have never placed the universe in such a way that it has to do the housework.

His job is to play, so we used to tell him to play and play very hard. The rest of the work is ours, we will do it ourselves. She was never reprimanded for doing household chores.

Salima Imtiaz says that her son-in-law (Kainat’s husband) is very sensible.

At the time of the relationship, he expressed his desire to let him play as long as he should. He also said that he has no problem with it.

Kainat Amitaz says, “My husband has no problem with it. Earlier they didn’t watch women’s matches, now because of me they watch it with great interest. Then send me messages and comment on matches. They encourage me.
