Will Deuba’s government be formed in Nepal or will Oli return again?
So far no political party or coalition has got absolute majority in the elections held in Nepal.
However, re-polling is going on in some areas, the results of which will be available only by December 8.
There are a total of 275 seats in the Parliament of Nepal, out of which 165 seats are directly elected.
While the remaining 110 seats are such that proportional elections are held.
These seats are given to political parties on the basis of percentage of total votes. These elections are held simultaneously for the Parliament and the seven Provincial Assemblies.
Sher Bahadur Deuba’s Nepali Congress has so far won only 53 seats, while former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s party i.e. Communist Party of Nepal (UML) has got 42 seats.
The trend so far and the seats where the candidates have been declared victorious, the Nepali Congress-led alliance is leading.
While the Nepali Communist Party (Unified Marxist-Leninist) of former Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is leading in the election with proportional representation.
KP Sharma Oli has formed an alliance with the right wing Rashtriya Prajatantra Party and the Samajwadi Party of Madhes.
Although it will take some time to formally announce the election results, but there is a lot of stir in the politics of Nepal.
There are indications from the election statistics that the ruling Nepali Congress alliance is showing ahead.
There are also ‘Communist Party of Nepal’ (Maoist Centre), ‘Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Socialist)’, Rashtriya Jan Morcha and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party in this alliance.
Round after round of meetings are going on and every party is trying its best to get the key of power in its hands.
Many leaders themselves are competing to become the Prime Minister, among whom Oli is there, as well as Ramchandra Paudel, a senior leader of the Nepali Congress.
On Tuesday, Poudel met Nepal’s Communist Party (Unified Socialist) leader and former Prime Minister Madhav Nepal and sought support to make himself the Prime Minister.
However, Madhav Nepal himself is making efforts to get this post.
On the other hand, experts say that Gagan Thapa, the youth general secretary of Nepali Congress, is also seen in this race.
But in the coalition formed by Deuba’s Nepali Congress, the one who is seen as most ambitious is Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’, leader of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist).
As far as veteran Madhav Nepal is concerned, efforts will be made from his side also that something should happen due to which his face as Prime Minister should be put forward.
Political analysts believe that the way 61 percent voting took place in this election, it is an indication that the public is disappointed with both the alliances.
