Chelsea to Manchester United: Mason Mount’s Mega Transfer Deal Unveiled

England midfielder Mason Mount has completed a transfer from Chelsea to Manchester United for a reported fee of £55 million ($70 million), according to an official announcement by the club on Wednesday.

In the statement, Manchester United confirmed that Mason Mount has signed a contract with the club until June 2028, with the option of a further year. The 24-year-old midfielder has an impressive record of 279 club appearances, scoring 58 goals and providing 53 assists. He was named Chelsea’s Player of the Year for the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons and played a crucial role in the team’s triumph in the UEFA Champions League.

Mount, who has earned 36 caps for the England national team, expressed his excitement about the new challenge at Manchester United. He acknowledged the progress the club has made under manager Erik ten Hag and emphasized his ambition to win major trophies with his new team.

As part of the move, Mount has been assigned the iconic number 7 shirt, previously worn by legendary Manchester United players such as Cristiano Ronaldo, Eric Cantona, David Beckham, and George Best.

The 24-year-old midfielder is Manchester United’s first signing of the summer and is expected to make a significant impact on the team’s midfield.

During his time at Chelsea, Mount joined the club at a young age and rose through the ranks to become a key player. He played 195 matches for Chelsea, scoring 33 goals and providing 37 assists. His most memorable moment came in the 2021 UEFA Champions League final, where he provided the assist for Kai Havertz’s winning goal against Manchester City.

While Mount achieved success in European competitions, winning the UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup, he was unable to secure a domestic title during his six-year tenure at Chelsea.
