Pakistani Mountaineer Sajid Sadpara Achieves Oxygen-Free Ascent of Broad Peak, the 12th Highest Peak

Pakistani mountaineer Sajid Sadpara made an impressive accomplishment by scaling Broad Peak, the world’s 12th highest peak, without supplementary oxygen. In a single push from basecamp, Sadpara reached the summit of the 8,051-meter peak without the assistance of Sherpas or local support.

As the son of legendary mountaineer Ali Sadpara, Sajid has now conquered all five eight-thousanders in Pakistan without the aid of supplemental oxygen. His ultimate goal is to climb all 14 eight-thousanders without relying on supplemental oxygen.

Previously, in June, Sadpara successfully climbed Nanga Parbat without supplementary oxygen or Sherpas. He has also summited K2 (8,611m), Gasherbrum-I (8,080m), Gasherbrum-II (8,035m) in Pakistan, and Manaslu (8,163m) in Nepal, all without supplemental oxygen.

In another remarkable achievement, Sajid climbed Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, in May 2023, without the support of supplemental oxygen or assistance from Sherpas.

Meanwhile, renowned Pakistani mountaineer Naila Kiani embarked on her journey to summit Broad Peak. Having already reached camp two at 6,100 meters, Naila aims to climb all five of Pakistan’s highest peaks and become the first Pakistani woman to summit all five eight-thousanders.

If the weather permits, Naila plans to reach the summit of Broad Peak by the end of this month. Her recent accomplishments include successfully summiting Nanga Parbat, K2, Gasherbram 1, Gasherbram 2, and Mount Lhotse in Nepal.

For her achievements, Naila Kiani was honored with the Sitara-e-Imtiaz, the third-highest civilian award in Pakistan, in recognition of her successful summit of Mount Everest in May.
